Foz do Arelho is a fashionable seaside resort with a beautiful sandy beach. Voted the safest beach in Portugal. You can kitesurf, kayak, sail and surf here.

Cycling or walking along the beautiful lagoon is also an option. Recently, a group of flamingos chose the lagoon as their new permanent spot.

Peniche - 45km

Is inseparable from the sea, it is one of the most important Portuguese fishing ports for artisanal fishing and a major water sports center on the Atlantic Ocean.

The bays of Consolaçao and Baleal are ideal for families, the beach of “Supertubos” is known for its perfect tube-shaped waves and has been declared one of the 7 wonders of Portugal.

Beautiful white sandy beach, very popular with wave surfers.

The surfer's paradise par excellence. It is wonderful to walk around the peninsula. You can go out here in the evening

Alcobaça – 20 km

This city has only one major attraction, but it is one that counts. The massive Monastery of Alcobaça dates from the 12th century and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cozy city center is also worth a visit.

 

 

Buddha Eden tuin – 30 km

An extensive garden full of Oriental statues and cork trees. There is a train for the children. You can have a nice lunch in the adjacent quinta and the wines are also excellent.

 

 

Caldas da Rainha – 5 km

Nice conference city where shopping in the narrow streets is pleasant. Known for its ceramics and thermal water. It is also nice to spend time in the beautiful Dom Carlos park. Nice playground and bar in the park.

 

 

Del Rey (Praia) – 35 km

Phenomenal sandy beach, good surf spot, beautiful golf course. Fashionable neighborhood.

 

 

Lissabon – 85 km

The secrets of the capital do not just unfold. It takes a long time to get to know this beautiful pearl and its many neighborhoods.

However, some recommendations are:

Take the tuk-tuk to explore the city. The drivers are young and know the most beautiful places. A ride on tram 28 also takes you through the old city center of the Alfama district.

The student district of Bairro Alto is very beautiful and connects to the even more beautiful artists' district of Chiado. There you can visit LX Factory, a site where the former warehouses are now occupied by artists, shops and restaurants. The Belém district is also worth a detour. Known for its delicious pasteis de nata.

 

 

Lourinha – 40 km

The Portuguese dinosaur site par excellence! In addition to the dinosaur park Dino Parque, you will also find a dinosaur museum. Very nice for children!

 

 

Nazaré – 15 km

Popular seaside resort, known for the “Big Waves”. From October the waves become up to 40m!

 

 

Obidos – 15 km

Well preserved walled medieval village.

When you enter through the large gate, you are immediately drawn in by the pleasant shopping street. Anyone who wants can climb the ramparts and walk all the way around the village.

Papoa – 45 km

Uninhabited peninsula that you can walk all the way around. Definitely worth it!

 

 

Rio Maior – 40 km

The Santana Mercado is held every Sunday morning, a very large market where it is pleasant to spend time. Also fun to do are the nearby salt mines.

 

 

Sao Martinho do Porto – 5 km

Favorite seaside resort of the Portuguese. Beautiful bay with handsome promenade. Very beautiful sunset in the bay. You will find numerous restaurants there.

 

 

Sintra – 80 km

It may seem far, but within an hour's drive you will be in the middle of this Portuguese pearl. With its countless palaces along green hills, the many narrow shopping streets and the nice markets, romantic Sintra is an absolute must.
