A boat trip away is the nature reserve of Ilha das Berlengas.
The clear water is ideal for divers who discover a wealth of natural marine fauna and flora here.
You can take the boat daily to visit this island.
From our apartment (front), you go to the right and you are a few steps on the quay to take the boat to the Berlengas.
Reservations are recommended.
The apartment is located right in the historic center of Peniche.
Next to the Santuarium Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, the churches, you will find the fortress of Peniche. This fort was built in the 16/17th century to defend the coast. It has played an important role in the history of Portugal at various times.
Later, the fort was transformed into a political prison. Inside the fort, where the Museu Municipal is now housed, you will learn all the details.

Beautiful white sandy beach, popular with wave surfers.
Baleal – 5 km
The surf paradise par excellence, Around the peninsula it is wonderful to walk. In the evening you can go out here

Alcobaça – 60 km
Deze stad telt slechts één grote bezienswaardigheid, maar het is er wel een die kan tellen. Het massieve klooster van Alcobaça dateert uit de 12de eeuw en is UNESCO werelderfgoed. Ook het gezellige stadscentrum is een bezoekje waard.
Buddha Eden tuin – 30 km
A vast garden full of Oriental statues and cork trees. For the children there is a train. In the adjacent quinta you can have a nice lunch and the wines are also fine.
Caldas da Rainha – 35 km
Nice congress city where it is pleasant to shop in the narrow streets. Known for ceramics and thermal water. Also in the beautiful park Dom Carlos, it is nice to stay. Nice playground and bar in the park.
Del Rey (Praia) – 15 km
Phenomenal sandy beach, good surf spot, beautiful golf course. Fashionable neighborhood.
Foz do Arelho – 35 km
Fashionable seaside resort with beautiful sandy beach. Voted the safest beach in Portugal. You can kitesurf, kayak and sail.
Cycling or walking along the beautiful lagoon is also an option. Recently, a group of flamingos chose the lagoon as their new permanent place.

Lissabon – 85 km
The secrets of the capital don't just unfold. It takes a long time before you get to know this beautiful pearl and its many neighborhoods.
However, some recommendations are:
Take the tuk-tuk to explore the city. The drivers are young and know the most beautiful places. A ride on tram 28 also takes you through the old city center of the Alfama district.
The student district Bairro Alto is very beautiful and connects to the even more beautiful artists' district Chiado. There you can go to LX Factory, a site where the former warehouses are now occupied by artists, shops and restaurants. The Belém district is also worth a detour. Known for the delicious pasteis de nata.
Lourinha – 15 km
The Portuguese dinosaur site par excellence! In addition to the dinosaur park Dino Parque, you will also find a dinosaur museum. Very nice for children!
Nazaré – 60 km
Popular seaside resort, known for the "Big Waves". From October the waves will be up to 40m!
Obidos – 25 km
Well preserved walled medieval village.
When you enter through the large gate, you are immediately sucked in by the cozy shopping street. Those who want can climb the ramparts and walk all the way around the village.

Rio Maior – 45 km
Every Sunday morning the Santana Mercado is held, a very large market where it is pleasant to stay. Also fun to do are the nearby salt mines.
Sao Martinho do Porto – 50 km
Favorite seaside resort of the Portuguese. Beautiful bay with handsome promenade. Very nice sunset in the bay. You will find countless restaurants.
Sintra – 80 km
It may seem far, but an hour's drive away you are already in the middle of this Portuguese pearl. With its countless palaces along green hills, the many narrow shopping streets and the nice markets, romantic Sintra is an absolute must.
